The WAFES 2017 conference officially starts today for the 100 or so Volunteer Bush Fire Service delegates with guided tours of several emergency service facilities including the “DFES Nerve Centre”, WA Water Police and VMRS Radio Operations and Perth Fire Station, WA Police Mounted and Canine Sections and the WA Police Major Incident Control.
Delegates will also attend the official Welcome Sundowner at 6pm tonight before being at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre bright and early tomorrow to listen to the keynote speaker, Mark Crosweller AFSM – Director General Emergency Management Australia.
The conference then rolls on the whole of Saturday with many service-specific presentations and exhibits from various industry sectors to be viewed during the breaks as well as the AVBFB AGM late Saturday afternoon.
Tomorrow night, the AVBFB is hosting a wonderful dinner for delegates, their partners and any other friends of our amazing Bush Fire service who have RSVP’d.
Sunday is another day full of conference events and presentations starting at 7:30am with the annual Firefighting awards.
We will be posting news and information about the conference as it happens and plan to file a complete wrap-up for next week’s newsletter.
Welcome to those visiting for the conference and for those who missed out on being a delegate, stay tuned!
