The Association received the following message from DFES – please circulate to all who attended the 2017 WAFES Conference.
The Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) has issued a recall of the mobile power bank which was distributed to attendees of the 2017 WA Fire and Emergency Services Conference in September.
Although the power banks have been subjected to a number of international safety tests and are certified as compliant with EU and RoHS product safety requirements, DFES has received two reported incidents involving the units. The health and safety of our conference delegates is of paramount importance to DFES, and it is with this in mind that the recall is being issued. You should stop using the power bank immediately and isolate it from any heat sources.
It should be noted that the power bank uses a lithium-ion battery as its energy source, and needs to be disposed of safely and according to local government guidelines.

RECALL OF MOBILE POWER BANK
A fault has been detected in the Mobile Power Bank, which was distributed recently to participants of the September 2017 WAFES Conference.
These units (including cable) should no longer be used, isolated from heat sources and disposed of in accordance with local government guidelines.

Personnel should stop using the power bank immediately and dispose of the battery according to local government guidelines.
